Alumni Group Condemns Assault on Gombe Councillor

The Government Science Secondary School, Gombe Class of 2001 has condemned the assault and humiliation of Hon. Abdurahman Abubakar Sharif, a serving Councillor representing Shamaki Ward, Gombe Local Government Area. The organization alleges the incident was perpetrated by the driver of the Gombe State Chief of Staff and is calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The group views the incident as a grave violation of human dignity and an abuse of office, stating that such actions undermine public trust in governance and the rule of law. They are demanding justice and accountability, urging the authorities to act promptly and decisively in the interest of peace, justice, and good governance in Gombe State.

STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION AND CALL FOR INVESTIGATION

The Government Science Secondary School, Gombe, Class of 2001, strongly condemns the assault and humiliation meted out to our colleague, HON. ABDURAHMAN ABUBAKAR SHARIF, popularly known as Dan Buba, who is a serving Councillor representing Shamaki Ward, Gombe Local Government Area, Gombe State, Nigeria. The Assult and humiliation did by Gombe State Chief of Staff Driver.

We view this unfortunate incident as a grave violation of human dignity, an abuse of office, and an act capable of undermining public trust in governance and the rule of law. Such actions are unacceptable in a democratic society and must not be tolerated under any circumstance.

As concerned alumni and responsible citizens, we hereby call on the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into the incident. We firmly demand that justice be allowed to prevail strictly in accordance with the law, without fear or favour, to serve as a deterrent against future occurrences of similar misconduct.

The Government Science Secondary School, Gombe, Class of 2001, stands in solidarity with our colleague and reiterates our commitment to the principles of justice, accountability, and respect for human rights.

We trust that the relevant authorities will act promptly and decisively in the interest of peace, justice, and good governance in Gombe State.
